I've been making bassoon reeds for over 25 years. I love the process from beginning to end.

Crafting music out of organic material never fails to fascinate me. 

Like playing the bassoon itself, the reed-maker must being constantly improving.

Bassoonist Nicholas Akdag has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and regularly performs throughout Southern California with groups like the The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Redlands Symphony, and others. Nick studied at the State Conservatory of Music Berlin "Hanns Eisler" (Berlin, Germany) with Prof. Volker Tessmann. He previously received a Master of Music Degree from the Yale University School of Music with Frank Morelli. He also studied at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and the Idyllwild Arts Academy. He currently serves on the faculty at Ventura College.
